- Startup. The actual BRIGGS boot sequence plays silently for ten seconds.
- Meet BRIGGS. Hello. I am Briggs, a voice-first assistant for your Windows computer. I bring conversation, information and practical tools together, so you can spend less time navigating menus and more time doing what matters to you.
- Your voice. Your choice.. Once your microphone is enabled, say Kev to get my attention, then make your request. You can also type. Choose a microphone, a voice and an operating profile that suits you. Speech recognition can make mistakes, so unclear commands may need confirmation.
- Everyday assistance. I can help open known applications and websites, control supported media playback, and organise calendar reminders. You might open YouTube, ask for the next song, or prepare for an appointment. These actions depend on the applications and Windows interfaces available on your computer.
- Learning and understanding. With the optional local brain installed, I can explain ideas, help you study and discuss careers. Import supported documents to find relevant passages, ask questions and create revision material. I can guide practice one question at a time, while you remain the judge of what you understand.
- From questions to evidence. For online research, I can gather source extracts and show links. My Intelligence Core selects relevant context and checks document citation identifiers. I distinguish local model knowledge from supplied evidence. A citation is not proof that every claim is correct, and important information still needs checking.
- From ideas to projects. For coding, I can help inspect a project, explain errors and propose focused changes. Reviewed development tools work with a separate copy, builds, tests and checkpoints. I can help with a small project step by step, but I cannot promise to complete any website, application or game autonomously.
- Visual tools and communication. With your permission, I can read visible screen text. I can also explore properly authored three-dimensional models and hide named components. For communication, supported workflows help prepare drafts and call requests. These are bounded tools, not universal vision, perfect hidden blueprints or automatic control of every messaging app.
- Your control comes first. My local memory can retain approved preferences and information. Supported procedures can be reviewed before reuse. Diagnostic tools help investigate failures, and security features work alongside Microsoft Defender. Sensitive actions still need permission. I am an assistant, not a replacement for antivirus software or your judgement.
- Made around people. For someone who finds a mouse or keyboard difficult to use, voice interaction may remove some everyday friction. For a learner, patient explanations can make a difficult subject more approachable. Text input remains available, because accessibility means choice. Real needs differ, and testing with disabled people must shape future improvements.
- The future of BRIGGS. Our ambition is more accurate speech, stronger research, better project-building and useful connections across devices. We want safer learning from feedback, clearer evidence and more dependable multi-step assistance. Those are development goals, not completed promises.
